Icho Tower
Standing resolute on a tidal reef off Jersey’s southeast coast, Icho Tower is a striking reminder of the island’s coastal defence heritage. Built in 1811 and one of Jersey’`s historic Martello-style towers, it was constructed to defend St Clement’s Bay during the Napoleonic Wars, forming part of a broader ring of fortifications.

Visible from the shoreline at low tide, Icho Tower is accessible only when the sea permits, adding to its air of isolation and quiet strength. The tower rises from the rocks with a commanding presence, its granite form shaped to deflect cannon fire and withstand the Atlantic elements.
Though no longer in military use, Icho Tower remains a powerful symbol of resilience - an enduring landmark etched into the seascape. Today, it serves as a point of interest for coastal walkers, history enthusiasts, and photographers drawn to its stark beauty and ever-changing tidal surroundings.
