Stay safe with the TIDAL checklist

T Tide & terrain awareness

Check local tide times before setting off — it’s easy to get caught out. Some sections can be walked along the beach at low tide, but alternative sections are always provided where feasible. These may occasionally follow roads, so take extra care.

I Inform & prepare

Mobile reception isn’t always reliable. Let someone know your planned route and return time in advance. Bring snacks and plenty of water, especially in hot weather — though you’ll find plenty of great refuelling stops along the trail.

DDress for the day

Wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear. Weather can change quickly on the coast, so pack layers and be ready for anything.

AAvoid risks

Stick to the marked path and stay away from cliff edges, which may be unstable. If the walk becomes too difficult, don’t hesitate to turn back.

LLocation in emergencies

If you need help, dial 999. If you’re unsure of your location, use the what3words app to share your coordinates — emergency services can use this to find you quickly. If your mobile provider doesn’t cover Jersey, arrange an eSIM.
